Privacy policy

Introduction

This document helps you better understand how the Riko Shopify app handles personal data.

The following groups of users interact with the Riko app:

  • Merchants selling through a Shopify-powered business.
  • Customers who shop at a Shopify-powered business.
  • Shopify, that provides digital means to create and buy from a business.

If you belong to one of these groups, this document may refer to your personal data.

Processed data

The following paragraphs outline what personal data are collected for each group of users, why they are collected, and with whom they are shared.

  • Merchants install the Riko app through the Shopify App Store or through a custom install link. When installing an app, merchants decide to grant or deny an app access to certain categories of personal data. Currently the AudioReview app doesn't request any personal data here, because it does not require Shopify hosted merchant data to operate.
    The only personal merchant data that the Riko app may collect, is a Reply-To email address that the merchant enters when submitting a Support form. This is expected to be a business address, but nevertheless may be a personal address. This email address is shared with the Riko app's e-mail provider.
  • Customers may leave a review on a merchant's Shopify store through the use of the Riko app. In the review the Customer may include his or her name, a text about her personal experience with a product and an audio recording (e.g. a voice message). This data is collected by the Riko app, as they are essential parts of the review that the Customer leaves the Merchant. The reviews data are shared with the Riko app's cloud based host located in the United States.
  • No personal data of people at Shopify is collected.

Requesting your data

The following paragraphs outline how personal data collected by the Riko app can be viewed.

  • Merchants can request what email addresses they entered when submitting support requests via an email to our privacy officer at [email protected]. An email will be sent to the addresses that were entered.
  • Customers can request personal data they included in their review(s) by contacting the store on which they submitted the review, e.g. through its contact form.
    Merchants can then request Riko to send a Customer his or her personal data, via an email to our privacy officer at [email protected].

Removing your data

The following paragraphs outline how personal data are removed from the Riko app.

A Customer's personal data may be part of reviews he or she created when visiting a Merchant's Shopify store. Reviews data are removed automatically 48 hours after the Merchant uninstalls the Riko app. The reviews data include:

  • The name the Customer entered when submitting the review.
  • Any personal data the Customer included in the review text when he/she submitted the review.
  • Any personal data the Customer included in the review audio message when he/she submitted the review.

Customers may request removal of personal data from their reviews, or removal of the reviews themselves, by contacting the store, e.g. through its contact form. Merchants can then request Riko to the process the removal via an email to [email protected].

Merchants' email addresses included in support requests are not automatically deleted, as they are assumed to be business addresses. Merchants may request removal of their email addresses by contacting our privacy officer at [email protected].

Updates
